It is with great sorrow, we have received the news that Matron in Chief Miss Margaret (Mimi) Collins QARNNS (Rtd) has sadly passed away one month before her 96th birthday.

Miss Collins trained as a nurse in Boscombe Hospital and joined the QARNNS in 1953 subsequently travelling to distant lands including Hong Kong, Malta and Gibraltar.

​

Her tenure as Matron in Chief (1980 - 1983) included the Falklands War and she was awarded the CBE for her contribution.

​

Her family and friends report Miss Collins very much loved her life in the QARNNS, on retirement she became very active in the Women's Institute, whilst also taking up gardening and bridge.

​

Miss Collins will be greatly missed by many. Our thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends.
