It is with great sorrow, we have received the news that Captain Patricia (Trish) Hambling, OBE, ARRC, QARNNS (Rtd) has lost her battle following a stroke 10 years ago. Trish joined the service in 1965  and became the first Nursing Officer and Matron in Chief to have trained in the Navy. Our thoughts and condolences are with her family.

On Friday 6 November 2020, a Thanksgiving Service was to take place for the life of Captain 'Trish' Hambling, OBE, ARRC, QARNNS (Rtd), at St Luke's Church, HASLAR. Unfortunately this had to be cancelled due to the current lockdown situation. However, the internment of her Ashes which was to follow, was allowed to proceed and with friends present, this took place at HASLAR Royal Naval Cemetery, (Clayhall, Gosport) in accordance with Trish's wishes. The Service was led by the Reverend Angela Johnson, QARNNS Chaplain and a floral tribute was laid.
