SYMPOSIUM 2022
During 23 - 26 May, Ellen Seward, Pat Hogben, Suzie Float, Steve Spencer and myself, Liz Omerod attended the symposium which marked the 120th Anniversary of the QARNNS.
The theme of the event title was QARNNS Past, Present and Future. It began with a recorded address from HRH Princess Alexandra congratulating the QARNNS on our achievements over the years as well as continued success in the future
Suzie and I volunteered to give a presentation on our experiences working on HMHS Uganda during the Falklands War, this being the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands War. - Liz Omerod
Liz and Suzie were congratulated for the "amazing insight into their experience on HMHS Uganda in 1982 and nursing during the Falklands conflict."
Another said "absolutely mind blown by the Falklands presentation"
With regards to Ellen and Pat, a comment was made "honoured to be seated with retired QARNNS - a reminder of why we do our job, past present and future"
OP GRANBY 2021
The "30th" Anniversary reunion was held at the Corinthian on Plymouth Hoe on 30th October 2021 - just 12 months late due to the pandemic.
Operation Granby was the code name given to the British Military operations during the 1990/1991 Gulf War, where 53,462 members of the British Armed Forces were deployed during the conflict including QARNNS and Medical Branch personnel.
